What We’re Looking For:
Meltwater is looking for a Payroll Specialist (AMER) to join our People Team of Experts.
The Payroll Specialist (AMER) initial focus will be processing the payrolls for US and Canada by collecting, processing, and reviewing the data for the semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls in coordination with the regional HR teams and different payroll vendors. This role is part of the Global People Team.

What You'll Do:
  • Facilitating the accurate and timely payment of employee salaries and all types of One-Time Payments, such as commissions and bonuses.
  • Ensuring that payroll processes and controls are operated correctly and in accordance with company policies, and consulting HRBPs when needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) granted to local payroll for US and Canada.
  • Processing all external reporting requirements for payrolls (bi-weekly and semi-monthly).
  • Ensure Payroll Compliance. 
  • Support special projects in the payroll space and beyond. 
  • Uploading all payroll information into payroll system(s). 
  • Ensuring employee payroll enquiries are acknowledged and turned around in a timely fashion, utilizing Jira.
  • Coordination of all external payroll partners and managing payroll audits from authorities if required.
  • Reconciling payroll records to financial statements, review of payroll journal and coordination with external auditors during year-end audits.
  • Closure of each tax year and delivery of all legislative forms relating to payroll and benefits.
  • Support 401k, Workers Compensation and other statutory audits as required.
  • Responding effectively and efficiently to all information requests from internal and external clients with HRBP’s involvement when needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders: Regional HR, Benefits, Accounting, HRIS and Commission teams.
  • Function as a strategic partner and contribute process improvements for all key system implementations and upgrades.
  • Providing payroll advice to business in conjunction with HRBPs.
  • Ad-hoc support for payroll related initiatives and projects.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

 

What You'll Bring:
  • At least 5 years’ experience in processing a medium sized payroll in the US and Canada, familiar with the payroll/individual tax regulations in those countries.
  • Previous experience with Workday is preferred. 
  • Multi-State Payroll processing experience.
  • Process and System oriented – attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and abilities.
  • Previous experience using Jira is desirable.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills – ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Experience in projects to move to a single payroll platform for a country/region is desired.
  • Self-driven and willing to roll up sleeves and get things done.
  • Experience working in global/multinational companies and teams.
  • Fluent in English - other languages would be an advantage, but not mandatory.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in finance or accounting, alternatively successfully completed professional education in accounting.
  • Relevant Payroll Qualification CIPP/CPP Certification (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience working in payroll service providers or SaaS industry is a plus.
  • Payroll exposure to countries in EMEA, APAC and/or LATAM is preferred but not essential.

Compensation Overview:

Base Salary of $80,000 - $85,000 USD per year before bonuses. The company also offers for this position 10% quarterly bonuses [subject to the terms of the applicable bonus plan]
